My wonderful wife somehow got stuck with a ridiculously late shift at work the other night, a shift that kept her there until 4:00 the next morning. Being the loving husband that I am, I decided to wait up for her.
Amongst my many ‘stay awake’ activities, I scheduled a screening of my new copy of Detroit Rock City on DVD.
Here’s the kicker – I don’t remember, at least I don’t think anyway, watching the movie.
I was up for a long, long time and I got rather sleepy. I think I remember putting the DVD in, but I’m not positive. I remember watching my favorite scenes in Detroit Rock City, but I’m confused about that. You see, I don’t know if I remember the event of watching my favorite scenes from the other night while my wife was at work, or if I remember the event of watching my favorite scenes from the last time I watched the movie many months ago.
The next day I checked and the Detroit Rock City DVD was indeed in the DVD player, but there was no evidence to the fact of me having ever played the DVD, let alone having turned on the surround sound system which would have been necessary if I had wanted to hear the movie.
Anyway, in order to balance out my mind I watched Detroit Rock City again, I think, the very next day. The funny thing about that viewing, the viewing that I do know did in fact occur, is that I had this incredibly strong sensation of déjà vu the entire time I watched the movie.
Good times.
